Dumpster Permits & Placement Rules in Lexington, KY
If your dumpster is placed fully on private property, like a driveway or private jobsite, a permit is typically not required. If it needs to sit on a public street, sidewalk, or alley, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) requires a Lane Blockage Permit.
We help customers think through placement before delivery so you do not get surprised by a permit issue, a blocked access problem, or a delay on drop-off day.
Driveway or private property: usually no permit required
Street, sidewalk, or alley placement: LFUCG Lane Blockage Permit required
Commercial sites or multi-family properties: placement rules may be stricter, and we can help flag issues early
Delivery Clearances & Property Prep
Before delivery, make sure we have enough room to safely place the box. Our trucks generally need about 60 feet of straight-line space to back in and about 20 feet of vertical clearance for tree limbs, wires, and overhead obstructions.
That matters even more in older Lexington neighborhoods where tight approaches, low branches, and overhead lines can turn an easy drop into a problem. A quick site check ahead of time helps avoid delays.
Before we arrive, make sure:
the approach is clear and accessible
cars, trailers, or equipment are moved out of the way
low tree limbs or other overhead obstacles are accounted for
the placement spot is clearly decided in advance
We dispose of material through compliant regional transfer and landfill facilities, which helps us keep service reliable and pricing practical for customers.
What Can’t Go In The Box
To protect you from landfill fines and rejected loads, we do not accept wet paint, hazardous chemicals, asbestos, car batteries, or tires in our dumpsters. If you are unsure about an item, ask before loading it. It is a lot easier to check first than deal with a problem at the landfill later.

Project Spotlight: Aylesford Street Placement — Permit Pulled + Asphalt Protected
Permit Handled + Asphalt Protected
This Aylesford renovation did have a driveway, but the better move was to keep it open so contractors could get in and out without fighting around the dumpster all week. In a tight, high-traffic part of Lexington, that meant thinking through street placement early, handling the permit, and protecting the surface before delivery day.
We coordinated the LFUCG Lane Blockage Permit, used our extreme duty RolliSkates for surface protection, and placed the dumpster where the crew could use it without slowing the job down. That upfront planning helped the project keep moving without added hassle.
Access came first: We helped think through placement so the driveway could stay open for contractor traffic.
Permit handled: We coordinated the LFUCG Lane Blockage Permit so the customer was not left guessing.
Surface protected: We used extreme duty RolliSkates to help protect the asphalt at placement.
No-surprises outcome: The dumpster was where the crew needed it, pickup went cleanly, and the job stayed on track.

FAQ's
Yes — we protect driveways on delivery and pickup. We use extreme-duty RolliSkates driveway protection to help distribute weight and reduce stress on residential concrete and asphalt. If placement looks tight, send a quick photo and we’ll recommend the safest spot.
We’ll help you choose the right size based on your project and debris. Our approach is consultative sizing—you tell us what you’re tossing and how far along you are, and we guide you to the best fit. That keeps you from overpaying or running out of room mid-job.
Yes — we can do a swap to keep your project moving. We prioritize swap service when timing matters so you don’t lose a workday waiting on an empty container. If you’ve got help lined up, let us know and we’ll schedule accordingly.
We bill disposal weight based on the landfill’s certified scale reading. Your charges are backed by scale tickets, not estimates, so the math is clear. That’s how we keep billing consistent and predictable.
Yes — we document pickups for clarity and accountability. We take pickup photos at removal so you can see the container condition and fill level at haul-off. It’s a simple way to reduce misunderstandings and protect both sides.
Yes — if your dumpster has to sit in the street or public right-of-way, a permit is required, and we can pull it for you. In Lexington/Fayette County that’s the LFUCG Lane Blockage / Street Use Permit, and it’s free ($0) but mandatory when any part of the street is blocked. We can handle the permit on your behalf, and it typically takes 1–3 business days.
